Motorola Xoom vs. ipad 2

When Apple iPad was launched in the market, it did create severe stir and since then all the PC makers have been trying to make an ideal rival to the iPad. With loads of similar tablet PCs currently competing against each other like LG Optimus Pad, HTC Flyer, Samsung Galaxy Tab, HP Touchpad and Motorola Xoom, Xoom has been considered as the strongest opponent to iPad till date. The potential of Motorola Xoom can definitely give a boost to Motorola's launches and future in the international market of tablet PCs.

So, what makes Motorola Xoom strong enough to stand against iPad and offer some real good stuff? Let’s have a look at it:

1) Camera:

Keeping aside the look and feel of the tablet, Xoom offers a 2 mega pixel front-facing camera to the users that can be used for video calls and also a 5 MP real shooter camera that can take still images and capture HD videos.

The ipad 2 is also equipped with the dual camera, but without any major breakthroughs. As per Apple, the camera will record a HD video of 720p up to 30 FPS with audio and the still camera comes with 5X digital zoom. Apple's website has still not declared the ipad 2 camera features and their mega pixels so far. The web report says that ipad 2 will have the rear-facing camera of just 1 MP as compared to Motorola Xoom's 5 MP.

2) Display:

According to the speculations iPad 2 may come up with larger screen size than the first version. Nevertheless, ipad 2 plans to retain its ancestor's screen size i.e. 9.7-inch LED-backlit display.

Motorola Xoom on the other hand overpowers ipad 2 in this section too. The tablet offers a wide 10.1 inch display with WXGA 1280x 800 pixel resolution. It measures 249.1 x 167.8 x 12.9 mm and weighs 730 grams.

3) 4G:

As of now, iPad 2 will work on Verizon's and AT&T's 3G cellular network. Even though Verizon has 4G LTE, Apple has not incorporated that in its ipad 2. Motorola has plans to launch Xoom with 4G LTE support. So, here also ipad 2 gets over shadowed by Xoom's 4G wireless connection.

4) USB Port, HDMI:

Motorola Xoom is well equipped with HDMI i.e.High-Definition Multimedia Interface and USB ports which can easily enable users to connect it to other devices. On the other hand, iPad 2 doesn't have these slots.
